Blue Protocol discontinued in Japan

Blue Protocol has quite an interesting story for some. But the game has never been released in Western Hemisphere. It was a promised land that made a snow ball of anticipation back in the days. Produced by Bandai Namco always looked like Sword Art Online in the real world. The now classic anime cell shading art of the games was a light for most anime fans.

Blue Protocol released in Japan back in 2023. Some Western players tried to get into the Japanese servers. But a strict strategy by Namco banned most of them. Making the game a pure Japan exclusive only. But Amazon games were from the start responsible to bring the game to West territory. And the hopes started to fade out last year maybe because of the lack of news. Maybe the lack of marketing or any official answer by Namco or amazon about Blue Protocol.

Blue Protocol leaves the way open to SAO new game

Finally today Bandai Namco officially announced that the Blue Protocol will never see light in the West. And will be discontinued next January 18, 2025. So you can see how this was a failure in the eyes of many anime fans. Looking for a true Japanese free MMO to make us feel like a SAO like story could exist in our world. But maybe the efforts by Namco for the new Sword Art Online game Fractured Dream. The game aims to recreate the SAO world of multiplayer games next October, 2024. Is it a move by the company to avoid creating competition between two IPs and favour an IP that is established? Check the official announcement in Blue Protocol’s page.

Maybe most anime fans are now excited about the next Madoka Magica game, Magia Exedra. But not really the experience Blue Protocol was promising. Time will make the world forget about the game. And even making some question its existence from the start. But maybe some coder geniuses would make the game come to the west? In unofficial servers one day? Or Worldwide better? Probably not, right?
